A Good Year in the Orchard

30/09/2020 This has been a bumper year for apples in our orchard. The crop of plums and pears however, was not so good. There were so many apples that it was decided to donate some of the crop to the foodbank at the Tryst Centre.
A few of the trees in the orchard are beginning to lean at an angle and the Friends are a bit concerned that they might fall over in the event of severe winter storms. To prevent this happening Harry and Elaine spent a morning attaching stakes to the offending trees. Some pruning of the trees will take place in the next week or so in the attempt to keep the trees healthy and produce another bumper crop next year.
